Palais Akaaboune stands as one of Tangier’s few remaining authentic riads, with a storied history spanning eight centuries. Acquired in 1976 by the visionary Abdesalam Akaaboune—from whom it takes its name—this architectural gem is nestled in the heart of the Kasbah. Once the harem of the sultan, whose grand palace now houses the Kasbah Museum, the riad has long been a sanctuary of culture and creativity.
True to Abdesalam Akaaboune’s legacy, the palace has welcomed artists, musicians, and free spirits for decades—a tradition we proudly uphold to this day. Its allure has also captivated the world of cinema, serving as a filming location for two James Bond classics, The Living Daylights and Spectre, alongside numerous other productions. In 1989, the legendary Rolling Stones immortalized the riad’s magic, recording Continental Drift from their Steel Wheels album within its walls.
